Definition of Dedicated Hosting Services

When we speak of hosting web servers, there are three major kinds - web hosting servers, VPS (virtual private web hosting servers) and dedicated hosting. Shared servers host a lot of customers and hence the system resources per web hosting account are limited, VPS hosting offer more configuration liberty, but also affect other virtual private web hosting servers on the hardware node if used unwisely, and dedicated hosting servers give you the autonomy to do everything you decide without meddling with anyone else.

Why would you need a dedicated hosting servers?

Dedicated hosting servers are usually much more high-priced than shared web servers or private virtual servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is pretty simple. If your firm has a heavy resource-demanding web portal, or simply has very precise web server configuration requirements, the right choice would be a dedicated hosting servers. For somebody who is willing to invest in safety and stability, the greater price is not a concern. You gain full root-level access and can utilize 100% of the dedicated web server's resources without anyone else availing of these resources and intervening with your sites.

Hardware specifications

Most web hosting providers, including us at Hosting Europe, provide different hardware configurations you can select from based on your needs. The configurations offer different types of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and hard drive sizes and different bandwidth usage quotas. You can choose a Control Panel, which is a useful interface if you wish to utilize the dedicated hosting servers for hosting purposes solely and choose not to use SSH for all the changes you will be making. We offer three kinds of Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The web hosting Control Panel of your choosing

If you are a self-assured Linux OS user (our hosting servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated hosting through an SSH client exclusively. That, though, could be awkward, even more so if you decide to grant full root privileges to somebody else who has less technical expertise than yourself. That is why having hosting CP software pre-installed is an intelligent idea. The Hepsia Control Panel tool that we provide does not offer complete root-level access and is chiefly suitable for someone who has multiple web sites that devour a lot of resources, but desires to administer the web sites, databases and e-mail aliases via a user-friendly web hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant root privileges and have three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting plans rather than using the dedicated hosting servers only for yourself, you should pick one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup procedures

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated hosting servers and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your server, such as a non-responsive Apache or an outage, it is useful to have some kind of monitoring system activated. Here at Hosting Europe the system administrators monitor all dedicated hosting servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated hosting servers as well. Backups are also an additional option - the web hosting services provider offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a kind of RAID that would permit you to have the very same data on two disk drives as a protective measure in case of a server disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full root-level access erases something unintentionally.
